Team Selection and Placement:
Registrants are expected to attend the team selection night. Team selection nights are an opportunity for players to meet the coaches before the start of the season. The goal is to give the players an opportunity to showcase their skills and to balance teams for a better overall experience from the program. Players will participate in warm-ups, drills, and scrimmages to showcase to the league their basketball ability. All players who attend selection night are picked and placed on a team. Players who do not attend team selection night will be placed on a waitlist and only placed on teams if there is a need. Players that attend team selection will be notified by the Department what team they are placed on by Friday, November 7th.
Practices:
Practices begin the week on November 10th and conclude in March. Each team will practice 1-2 times a week between Monday-Thursday from 6:30-7:30pm or 8:00-9:00pm. The coach is responsible to notify players of when and where practice will be held. Practices are designed to cover the basics of basketball and progressively adding new drills, skills and plays as the season progresses. Players are expected to attend practices. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure players arrive to practice on time and ready. Practices are 1 hour, players must be picked up on time.
Games:
All regular season games will be held on Saturdays. The 2025/2026 basketball season begins on Saturday, December 13th. League schedules will be available to all players at the Jamboree. Any changes to schedule will be relayed by the department and coaches. Games will be played at the following locations:
- Pulaski Middle School - 757 Farmington Avenue (Please utilize the back parking lot entrance@ 206 Merigold Dr. New Britain, CT 06053)
- Roosevelt Early Learning Center - 40 Goodwin Street
Coaches:
All coaches are volunteer coaches for the program. Coaches are chosen by the New Britain Recreation, and Community Services Department and background checked prior to the start of the season. Coaches are responsible for scheduling, conducting, and organizing practices at the direction of the department.
Uniform:
Each player will be issued a team uniform. The team uniform must be worn at all games. Any player that does not have a uniform cannot play in the game. Replacement uniforms are available for purchase. Players should report to games and practices in comfortable athletic clothing.
Schedule:
The league schedule will be available to players at the Jamboree. The league follows the CSDNB school calendar and does not hold games or practices on days off or vacation. This includes snow days and early dismissals.
